Bunny in the Garden - Seed Catalogue Collage

A great use for the seed catalogues we get in the mail! My daughter helped cut pictures of the flowers. I gaver her two different sized circles in white and the bunny ears, googly eyes, pink pompom, white cotton ball and glue.

Spring Flowers Craft with Cupcake Wrappers & Easter Grass

My daughter enjoyed making these spring flowers this morning. She flattened some different sizes of cupcake wrappers and then coloured them. She glued to thin pieces of green paper onto the blue paper and then glued the wrappers at the top. Some of the smaller wrappers she glued into the center of the bigger ones and then glued a button at the very center. Some green easter grass was then glued at the bottom.

Materials: Easter Grass or Green paper cut into strips, Cupcake wrappers (various sizes if you have them), buttons.

Easter Bunny or Rabbit Puppet Craft

So easy!

Cut a rabbit shape from paper (or for a sturdier version use the cardboard from a cereal box!).

Let child colour.

Let them glue on eyes and a pompom nose and then a popsicle stick to hold it with.

this one done with cereal box cardboard, and decoupaged with tissue paper and cupcake wrappers. Eye holes cut out. Pompom & Craft Stick glued on. Details drawn with black marker. Great pretend fun!!

Handprint Easter Bunnies

Check these little bunnies out! Paint the palm and two fingers of the hand and print on paper. A dab of pink paint for the nose and some little eyes, whiskers, and mouth down with a black marker.

We also added our coffee filter Easter Eggs we made earlier in the week.

Baby & Toddler Handprint Lambs

Sweet little handprint lambs - one made solely by my 3yr old (except for tracing & cutting the handprint out) and the other one I made of my 11m old's handprint. Cute!

Easy Toddler Easter Decoration Craft - Coffee Filter Easter Eggs

You've probably seen many variations of these coffee filter stained-glass-look decorations. We've done them as snowflakes for winter and hearts for Valentines. Here is our Easter version!

Cut coffee filters into an egg shape.

Decorate with markers

Lightly spritz with water (this will make the markers bleed and the lines of the filter disappear

Let dry (happens fast) and then hang up!

Toddler Easter Art

Have your child help with the Easter decorations by making a HUGE Easter Egg!

Cut an egg shape from very large paper (tape 2 pieces together if needed to make a large egg)

Decorate with markers or crayons or paint

Decorate with stickers

VOILA!

Easter Playdough Basket

Just wanted to turn our Playdough fun into an Easter theme so I made this cheap recycled basket for my daughter to play with. A emptied & clean applesauce cup with an elastic (taken from broccoli bunch) around it and a pipe cleaner wrapped on the elastic. Not very fancy obviously but she had fun with it. Here's a pic of the basket filled with Easter Eggs & Easter Snakes (every playdough activity MUST have snakes included!)

Rainbow Craft Projects - Toddlers & Preschoolers

Rainbows are a fun craft for St. Patricks Day, Easter, or celebrating Spring or Summer!

*see the bottom of this post for alternative suggestions and an easy way for a toddler to make a Rainbow Shape*

FRUIT LOOP or MINI COLOURED MARSHMALLOW or SMARTIES RAINBOW - Craft or Snack!! Fruit Loop Cereal or Mini Coloured Marshmallows Glue Construction Paper Have the child glue the coloured cereal or marshmallows into a rainbow shape**. Stress the importance of only eating the cereal that DOES NOT have glue on it! :-D

**Turn this into a RAINBOW SNACK by omitting the glue! Maybe use cream cheese to attach them to a plate and then enjoy eating your Rainbow Snack - another option for the rainbow could be Smarties! Create your rainbows on Sugar Cookies or Cupcakes or Graham Crackers!**

TISSUE PAPER RAINBOW Different coloured strips or squares of tissue paper Glue Stick Construction paper shaped like a rainbow Put a thick layer of glue stick on the construction paper. Stick the tissue paper on randomly.

YARN RAINBOW Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple lengths of yarn Glue Construction Paper Glue lines of glue in a Rainbow Shape** onto the construction paper. Lay a appropriate coloured length of yarn in the glue.

MOSAIC PAPER RAINBOW Red, Orange, Yellow, Green Blue, Purple Construction Paper (just a small strip of each) White Construction Paper Glue Cut the strips of coloured paper into small squares. Have the child glue them into a Rainbow Shape**

**Rainbow Shape** To make it easier for a young child, draw the rainbow stripes with the appropriate coloured crayon (remember ROY G BIV or Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet) Then they can glue their paper, yarn, or cereal onto each line.

*Any of these projects could have half a Paper Plate subsituted for the constructions paper to change it up a bit!

Easy Toddler Kleenex / Tissue Box Craft

* Tissue Box (full - not empty!)
* Various papers, stickers, colouring pages, previously done artwork, buttons, ribbons, Christmas or Birthday Cards etc.

Cover the sides of the box with blank construction paper, previous artwork or coloured colouring pages. Further embellish with whatever! It is now a festive tissue box. :0)

(sometimes I dont want EVERY craft we do to last forever! just want something for an afternoon activity that will be on display short term.)

This can be done for any holiday or as an every day item.

Spring/Summer Picture

Create a Spring or Summer Picture using paints, muffin liners, grass (either the Easter Grass or cut from paper), Popsicle Sticks, and Buttons.

Take large sheet of construction paper. Have child paint top half blue (for sky) and bottom half green (for grass). Paint a few popsicle sticks (for flower stems) green. Let Dry.

Flatten a large muffin liner and glue a smaller muffin liner inside. Glue to a painted popsicle stick. Glue a button into center of small muffin liner.

Glue green grass to bottom of picture.

Glue popsicle stick flowers to picture.

Paint or glue on a sun in the sky.

Complete!

EASTER Crafts for my Toddler

Fridge Easter Egg Magnets:

Craft Foam
Magnets
Glitter Glue & Paint

Cut egg shapes from the craft foam in various colours. Let child paint. Once dry, decorate with glitter glue. Once dry, attach magnet to back.
Pretty simple! Good craft to save as decorations for future years. Remember to write the year on the back!


Rice Easter Egg Pictures:

Coloured Rice*
Glue
Construction paper or Poster Board or Cardboard (or recyle a Cereal Box!)

*Coloured Rice* Put rice into small bowls. Add a few drops of food colouring. Stir well. Allow to dry for a day or two stirring once in awhile. Store in ziploc bags.

Draw a large egg shape on the Paper. Draw lines across egg. Let child paint the glue onto one stripe. Pour the coloured rice onto the glue. Pour off extra rice. Now proceed to next stripe and continue until egg is all colourful with rice stripes! Allow to dry well before hanging.


Easter Pages:

Colouring Book Pages
Different Mediums like markers, bingo dabbers, paint, glitter, crayons, etc.

Each day for a week or so preceeding Easter, let child decorate a picture with a different medium. One day doing paints, another using crayons, etc. Hang around the house to decorate for Easter.


Recycling Previous Artwork:

Using some previously painted works of art, cut into Easter Shapes. Child can decorate a little more by adding pom poms, sequins, buttons, glitter, etc.

Im looking forward to our Easter festivities. Sophie is 21m and I think will enjoy what's in store for her.


Friday we are going to decorate some hard boiled eggs with markers and perhaps do some easter colouring pages to put up around the house. See the Paint w/ Water she's done so far - Momma's little artist :-)
(crazy amount of snow still on our deck eh?)

Here's our Egg Results:

We used tadoodles (so very messy, wear a smock!) and highlighters. I recommend containing everything in something to keep the eggs from rolling away. They turned out really good! A lot of the decoration on them came from her painting her hands and then when she grabbed an egg a lot of the paint got on the egg. Oh well, it worked :-)

Saturday we're going to Grandma & Grandpa's and also taking a trip to a nearby sheep farm where they have a special easter weekend letting all the kids see the goats, ducks, lambs, etc. Ive never gone and am quite excited.

Sunday we'll have a bit of a egg hunt and she'll get a basket of gifts:

I got everything from the dollar store, so probably spent $5. I'll put animal crackers, fruit loops, and a bit of chocolate in her plastic eggs.

Ive also set aside (two weeks ago or so) a few books with a Spring/Easter theme to read lots:



Should be a fun weekend :-)

Baby and Toddler Easter Snack & Activity Ideas

My daughter is 21m this Easter and I am so looking forward to it! Ive been researching different activites that she can enjoy this year and years to come. Im hoping to make some traditions that she (and future siblings) will remember fondly.

These are just some ideas, she certainly won't be getting all of it!

Activities:
- Egg Hunt with picture clues (or just scattered around living room this year)
- Lunch inside plastic eggs (cubed cheese, ham strips, pickle slices, crackers, etc.) don’t let them hide these!
- Colouring Pages - many on the internet to print off
- Pre-cut Egg Shapes from paper to decorate or colour
- Colour or Decorate hard-boiled eggs (crayons, markers, stickers, etc.) Egg salad for lunch tomorrow!

- Bunny Story Time – bunny & other Easter themed books

- Duck, Duck, Goose

- Paper Mache (watery glue & newspaper) a Balloon & Paint to create a neat Easter Egg (use pinata style if desired)

(do a few days in advance to allow the glue to dry and hype the kids up for Easter!)

- Printables – Mazes, matching games, etc. **See my sidebar on favourite websites that have printables**

- String Egg Decoration- Inflate a balloon. Soak long pieces of string or yarn in glue. Wrap sticky string around the balloon. Allow to dry. If using white string, paint it once dry. Pop the balloon & hang up as a decoration.

Options: Sprinkle with glitter! - Do several small balloons, each in a different string colour. Put in a basket once dry and balloon popped.
